Peanut butter snickers, from the convenience store next to my office. There aren’t many snack food options nearby and if you get hungry late in the day, the choices are leftover food from the Asian buffet place, or there’s Subway (their cookies aren’t bad), and then there is buying candy. I’ve lamented for some time that Reese’s Fast Break, the candy bar flavored like a peanut butter cup, is now rarely found in stores, if ever. (Fun fact: In Canada, it used to be called the Hershey Sidekick.) To my mind, adding peanut butter is the best way to make brand name candy palatable. It will mask and make you forget about the tepid mediocrity of the whole thing. But it must be said that Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are an unreliable product; they easily melt on a warm day, and in the summer, you can find any convenience store wall lined with ruined peanut butter cups sold to the unsuspecting. I’m astonished that they’ve survived this long. With no Fast Breaks to be found, Snickers are the next best thing.
