Spaghetti and meatballs. I made the Italian meatballs from Joy of Cooking, and they ended up nothing like I’ve ever seen them in a restaurant or a movie. I chopped up an onion in a food processor and mixed it with a half cup of parmesan cheese, some garlic, bread crumbs, an egg, tomato paste, and ground beef. I shaped the meatballs, briefly put them on the stove, and then baked them in the oven. I didn’t have much tomato sauce to add to the spaghetti. The beef took on the vegetal flavors of onion and garlic and the waxy texture of parmesan.

My indoor vegetable seeds sprouted, and then they died. I will try one more time.
