We had frozen pizza while listening to an audiobook of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. I would say it’s just about a perfect young adult novel, and even though the basic plot is a list of things you’ve seen before — summer love, coming-of-age, swimming pools — the author rushes past anything that might threaten to be a cliche and lets the characters and the first-person voice carry the story. It’s honest and brave and ends up making you feel hopeful about other people. I read it a few days ago and didn’t really want it to end, so I got the audiobook, which, because every good thing in our culture is now converging toward the same points, is read by Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton.
