There are penny-sized flowers that come up this time of year in the woods near my house; I don’t know their names, but they look like buttercups. In my backyard, which was getting undone with weeds that looked like thistles and purple flowers that weren’t supposed to be there, I finally pulled out the pockets of clover in the dirt and cleared the ground for a garden. Dinner was hamburgers.
