April 22

It was my last day at the job and my colleagues were kind enough to take me out for lunch at Rasika. Everything you might order there is good. I had a glass of Grüner Veltliner (which has nothing really to do with Indian food, but sometimes I just want to feel like I’m in Austria) and tried their fried spinach and yogurt (palak chaat), the sea bass with green curry in banana leaves, and the eggplant stacked in layers like an apple tart. They have a duck vindaloo in a bowl of curry with small fruit, I think cherry tomatoes, popping with spices. There was naan with onion and sage and another kind of bread cooked with mint. When all was said and done I felt very satisfied but also ready to eat something colder with more flesh than flavor, so I took Viet out for sushi and we ordered a gimlet (lime and gin) and then we ordered a saketini (lime and gin and sake).
