Tacos. There’s a District Taco down the street from my new office, which probably makes it my fate that I’ll be eating there at least once a week. It used to be a food truck and now it’s a local taco empire, and since there was very little Mexican food in D.C. until recently (most of the Spanish-speaking immigrants come from Central and South America) it was a welcome addition to the affordable food scene. I ordered three tacos. Because I was working, and because I’m not good at differentiating the meat they put in a taco, I couldn’t really tell the carnita apart from the barbacoa, and I freely mixed the mild green tomatillo salsa with the hot red colorado and the chiltomate.
