Exhaustion overtook me before half the day was done, and then somehow I got on a Capital Bikeshare bike and met people for Scrabble at Whole Foods. The grocery store did not have any food for me, however, or at least I had no desire to wait half an hour in the express line. I have never been interested in Chipotle-style salad restaurants, as I believe that a bowl of greens is not filling and everybody knows that, except the only place on the block where I could get food and inconspicuously bring it back into Whole Foods was a Sweetgreen, so I supported our local business and got their “spring chicken” salad with lettuce and kale, and asparagus and chicken and pesto. What saved it for me was the big loaf of bread they threw in at the end, showing once again that people may claim to have given up on gluten and carbs but the market doesn’t lie. I also liked munching on the croutons or garlic chips scattered throughout the bowl.
