I made a salsa with tomatillos, onions, and parsley, and just enough jalapeño to give it a little bit of kick in the background. We had Spanish mackerel, which didn’t really taste like much, but the salsa was there to make up for it, and I roasted purple potatoes to go with the fish. I decided to try a glass of fino sherry, and while its dry and unapproachable character did make me feel old-world and refined, I wouldn’t say that I’ve acquired the taste. I had also bought it at the county liquor store and it wasn’t any kind of quality bottle. For dessert I made ice cream, leaving it under-processed so it was really a cold cream, served with amaretto-flavored slices of peach.
