The sports bar in the neighborhood is quickly becoming my favorite local place, not only because they seem to quite often play hits from the mid-90s, which annoyed me to no end during the era itself but now make me nostalgic for the time when everybody was forced to hear the same songs, but also because you can simultaneously watch baseball, the Olympics, and Premier League soccer while eating traditional Bolivian dishes. I tried the silpancho, which is beef prepared like schnitzel on top of fried potatoes and rice, topped with poached eggs and tomatoes. There was also a type of empanada (but called something else, and not a salteña) with a saucier stew used for the filling than the Argentine-style empanadas I’m accustomed to, and with no olives.
