What do you do when you need a quick and immediate meal? Both of us got home late and we were looking for something we could throw on the stove without creating undue fuss or dishes. The options available, whether it’s takeout or even a trendy new food delivery service like Blue Apron, can be expensive, and I’m not sure how much time they really save. One idea that occurred to me would be to create a meal service that centers around making soup (or a rice bowl, or a pasta sauce), and either way, they’d give you a prepackaged broth with some seasoning, and a quick recipe that’s flexible enough for you to use the ingredients you have on hand. The important part is that everything is thrown into one bowl, so you don’t have to deal with multiple pans or elaborate kitchen preparations. Perhaps they would also send you a tray of frozen food that you could slide into the oven. For us, we made pasta sauce by adding one of my tomatoes to a can of tomato sauce with some garlic, and had it with Ikea meatballs.
