We went up to New York for a few days and had dinner at Aburiya Kinnosuke, a Japanese restaurant that we try to go to every time we’re there. We always tell them a price point and let them give us whatever they want, and their selections this time were tuna and salmon sashimi, followed by a grilled fish in soy sauce with tofu, and then sukiyaki, a beef dish simmered in a cooking pot, reminding me of the wholesome taste of porridge. There was a very filling bowl of rice with bits of fish mixed in, and dessert was vanilla ice cream and a green tea cake.

(The first time we visited this restaurant, as recorded on the previous version of this website, it was in the summer and we had “a crab salad, in which the crab effectively served as the dressing,” along with a cold duck plate and a stuffed crab claw that was like a combination of seafood and cream.)
