When I woke up, the logic of a dream had convinced me that somehow they’d passed Brexit in our own country and I would have to adjust my life to the new reality. Actually, I just had to figure out how to accommodate the new “Safe Track” Metro schedule that would be in effect all week, possibly creating half-hour lines at the subway stations. Viet decided to take the whole week off rather than deal with it, and when I got home he had made me spaghetti with fresh tomato, canned sauce, and jalapeños. He combined the ingredients in a food processor and then reduced the sauce on the stove, and it tasted like gazpacho on noodles.
